Our Aeotec charging system eliminates the need for batteries while hiding power conversion directly within the sensor's battery compartment.  Simply connect a 12v DC power source to the screw terminals and plug the power module into the MultiSensor's USB port.

Perfect Hard-wire Solution for Multisensor 6 & 7

I'm in the middle of a back-to-the-studs/joists kitchen remodel, and I was looking for a solution for discreetly hardwiring some Aeotec Multisensor 6 & 7's I purchased and previously owned that would be installed in the ceiling using the Aeotec Recessor kit. There isn't a lot of information out there on how this is supposed to be accomplished. It is against code to have connections made outside of a housing, and the connection must be accessable (meaning not sealed behind drywall), so hiding an outlet, power supply adapter, and USB cord inside a ceiling is a big no-no. I found these while scouring the internet for a solution, and decided to give them a shot, but I needed to figure out how to power them. I purchased and installed a 16-Channel, 12v/10a CCTV power supply box from Monoprice online (for $45) in an adjacent closet (after running electrical to the closet and installing a wall plug so the box could be plugged in), and then ran 20/2 doorbell wire ($15 for 100 ft.) from the CCTV box to the locations where I wanted the sensors in the ceiling, and This product is a perfect solution that meets code of having the connection contained in a housing (the body of the sensor) and having it accessable (I can pull the sensor back out of the ceiling to get to the connection). This is awesome! Don't ever discontinue these, as I will be buying more as I remodel other areas of my house, and I'd urge you to continue to make similar hard-wire 12v power supply solutions for other smart home devices! I hate having to change batteries, and now, because of this product, I don't have to! Thank you!!!

Worked perfectly!

This was exactly what I needed. it supplies wired power without having to cut a gynormeous hole in the ceiling to fit a USB plug through. One tiny hole, and some 20 guage wire, and was done. In the attic, I do run 14 gauge from the power supply to each sensor location, then the smaller wire is only about 12" long just to get through and hook up.

Exactly what I needed.

Lost the usb cable that came with the sensor. This works out so well. Instructions were clear and installation was a breeze. Well made replacement.
